Beaches...

The "parade" of the beaches, starting from the north of the island, begins with Agios Nicholas next to the imposing lighthouse of Moudari, and continues with the beaches of Ammos Square and Fourni. Near Agia Pelagia, two beautiful beaches of Lorenzo and Langada and the small lake next to the sea that creates the edge of the spectacular gorge of Paleochora. Just easter we find Diakofti with white sand and at west, the Limionas and Lykodimos with their unique sunsets. At the east of the island, we find a number of beautiful beaches like Paleopoli and Piazza, while going south we find the exotic Kaladi, the Komponada and the Firi Ammos, this beach has been awarded by the European Union. The Chalkos is one of the most picturesque beaches of the island. Finally, in the southern part there is the Kapsali, the Sparagario and the Melidoni with the beautiful view to the isle 'Chitra'.

Island’s Castles...

Milopotamos: Built by the Venetians in a steep cliff in the west, controlled the traffic on the Ionian Sea. In the imposing gate of the fortress stands the Lion of San Marco of Venice with the Latin inscription «Pax tibi Marco evangelista meus (peace to you, Mark my Evangelist) 1565».
Chora: Built in one of the most strategic points of the southern Aegean, controlled the Cretan, Ionian and Aegean Sea. It was named "The eye of Crete and the Greek Seas.
Paleochora: In the northeast of the island, well hidden from the harsh rocky environment, stands the ruined Byzantine capital on the island, Agios Dimitrios.
